The Birth Of Rock’s Greatest Heroes

Formed in 1962, the Rolling Stones is an English rock band from London. The core members were Mick Jagger (vocals, harmonica, rhythm guitar, percussion, and keyboards), Brian Jones (guitars, harmonica, keyboards, percussion, vocals, and sitar), Keith Richards (guitars and vocals), Bill Wyman (bass guitar, keyboards, piano, and vocals), and Charlie Watts (drums, percussion, and vocals). However, there have been various others throughout the group’s history: Ian Stewart (organ, piano, percussion), Dick Taylor (bass guitar), Ricky Fenson (bass guitar), Colin Golding (bass guitar), Tony Chapman (drums), Carlo Little (drums), and Mick Taylor (guitars and vocals) — among those who performed during tours.

At the beginning of the British Invasion (an event that saw English musicians becoming more popular in the United States), the Rolling Stones helped to pave the road. Originally, they made a name for themselves by performing covers; however, their popularity skyrocketed when they started creating new material. Some of their biggest songs are “Satisfaction”, “Paint It Black”, “Sympathy For The Devil”, “Angie”, “Wild Horses”, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, “Gimme Shelter”, “Start Me Up”, “Honky Tonk Women”, “She’s A Rainbow”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, “Miss You”, and “Get Off Of My Cloud”.

Many of these iconic hits have been collected in their eclectic library of studio albums: The Rolling Stones / England's Newest Hit Makers (1964), 12 X 5 (1964), The Rolling Stones No. 2 (1965), The Rolling Stones, Now! (1965), Out Of Our Heads (1965), December's Children (And Everybody's) (1965), Aftermath (1966), Between The Buttons (1967), Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967), Beggars Banquet (1968), Let It Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971), Exile On Main St. (1972), Goats Head Soup (1973), and many more.
