Freddy’s Coming For You

Directed by Wes Craven, A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) is the first installment in the fan-favorite horror film franchise. The plot centres around a group of four teenagers — Tina Gray (Amanda Wyss), Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp), Glen Lantz (Johnny Depp), and Rod Lane (Nick Corri) — as they attempt to survive repeated attempts on their life by a malevolent killer called Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund). Learning that Krueger can attack them in their dreams, they struggle to remain awake, using doses of caffeine as a temporary solution. However, one can only resist sleep for a short period of time, and the survivors must find a way to fight back before their hunter finally claims his prize.

Having received rave reviews, the film eventually spawned a number of sequels: Freddy’s Revenge (1985), Dream Warriors (1987), The Dream Master (1988), The Dream Child (1989), The Final Nightmare (1991), Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994), Freddy Vs. Jason (2003), and a remake (2010). Each of these movies heavily focuses on Krueger and his terrorizing of the teenagers living in Springwood, Ohio. The fedora-wearing character has even crossed over with Jason Voorhees, the principal antagonist of the Friday The 13th franchise.
